As an international student, I found myself struggling with some scholarly terms right after starting my MLIS. When teaching a library skills session to a group of North-Korean Scholars, I noticed that many library terms were completely new for them, and saw an opportunity.
Every year libraries, museums, schools and other institutions across Canada "showcases the diversity of Canadian science and the culture it's embedded in" with Science Literacy Week.
Transitioning to online, digital instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic was hard for most instructors and students. However, this new environment enabled us to explore new tools and possibilities. Thanks to my Professional Experience in GIS Librarianship, I learned key-concepts in GIS, improved the design of digital workshops, learned how to use the GitHub platform and improved my digital instruction skills.
